The Netherlands runs an employer-driven skilled migration system alongside a conventional student visa route.
Study route
A residence permit for study is generally arranged through the educational institution, which is recognised as a sponsor and handles part of the application on the student’s behalf. Proof of sufficient means and health insurance are standard requirements.
Work route
The Highly Skilled Migrant scheme allows recognised sponsor employers to bring in skilled workers above a defined salary threshold, with a comparatively fast administrative process once an employer is engaged.
An Orientation Year residence permit may be available to recent graduates and doctorate holders from Dutch and, in some cases, other recognised institutions, to search for qualifying work.
What Pakistani applicants should prepare early
- An engaged sponsor employer or educational institution, since most routes depend on one
- Degree documentation and, where relevant, credential evaluation
- Proof of health insurance meeting Dutch requirements
- A clean police record where required for the residence permit
How WaleedMJ Law helps
WaleedMJ Law is based in Lahore and advises on the Pakistan-side legal and documentary requirements of an application — attestation, police clearance, educational document verification, powers of attorney and coordinating with the destination country’s process. We are not licensed to practise immigration law in this jurisdiction and do not represent clients before its immigration authority; where destination-country legal advice is needed, we say so and point you toward it rather than proceeding regardless. Final decisions rest entirely with that country’s immigration authority, and we do not promise, guarantee or predict any outcome.
