The UAE remains one of the most common destinations for Pakistani professionals, and Dubai’s employment visa system differs in structure from the European and North American routes covered elsewhere in this series.
Employment residence visa
Standard employment in the UAE requires an employer to sponsor a work permit and residence visa, generally involving an entry permit, a medical fitness test taken inside the UAE, Emirates ID registration and residence visa stamping, in that broad sequence.
Requirements and the exact sequence can differ between mainland employment and free zone employment, since free zones generally operate their own visa issuance process through the relevant free zone authority rather than the mainland process.
Golden Visa
The Golden Visa is a longer-term residence route available to certain categories including specified professionals, investors and outstanding students, generally granting a multi-year renewable residence without requiring a sponsoring employer in the same way as the standard employment visa.
What Pakistani applicants should prepare early
- Educational and professional certificates attested through the required chain, generally including attestation in Pakistan and by the UAE authorities
- Employment contract and offer letter from the UAE employer or free zone entity
- Police clearance certificate
- Medical test results, generally only obtainable inside the UAE as part of the process
How WaleedMJ Law helps
WaleedMJ Law is based in Lahore and advises on the Pakistan-side legal and documentary requirements of an application — attestation, police clearance, educational document verification, powers of attorney and coordinating with the destination country’s process. We are not licensed to practise immigration law in this jurisdiction and do not represent clients before its immigration authority; where destination-country legal advice is needed, we say so and point you toward it rather than proceeding regardless. Final decisions rest entirely with that country’s immigration authority, and we do not promise, guarantee or predict any outcome.
